Overview


With Gandhiji’s noble mission to serve the suffering humanity in rural areas, the MGM trust decided to start a hospital at Kalamboli, Raigad district. There existed no health care facility in the entire area, mostly inhabited by the poor families, daily laborers and a sizeable tribal population.

On the auspicious independence day of 1991 there come into being a full fledged Medical College hospital with indoor facilities for almost all basic specialties such as -Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ophthalmology, ENT; along with supportive diagnostic departments eg.-Pathology, Microbiology, Radiology. Physiotherapy (Ob/Gy and Pediatrics) and Dental services, with 2 functional operation theaters and fully equipped casualty and labour room.

The local public benefited from these clinical services immensely who thronged in large numbers as all these were made available free to the poor with a missionary zeal. Camps in area like Taloja, Ghote, Nawada phata and others.

The hospital started providing clinical training to the undergraduate (MBBS) students of MGM Medical College which was earlier started with non-clinical and para-clinical departments at Nerul since 1989.

In the year 1995, all other departments, except Pediatrics and Gynecology, shifted out to the new Medical College campus at Kamothe.

Thereafter, the hospital is focused on exclusive care of the mother and child, providing specialized services in Pediatrics, Neonatology, Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit and Obstetrics/Gynecology ( Infertility, IVF clinics).
